This museum has some interesting pieces of contemporary art. I was able to find street parking nearby. The price of admission was based on your donation. The staff were friendly and courteous. The museum was spotless and spacious. I was happy to find this place during the government shutdown.

Originally a school built in 1906 and famously attended by Marvin Gaye, the museum houses some of the most intriguing collections of contemporary art anywhere—bold, thought-provoking, and beautifully curated. Be sure to stop by the in-house coffee shop by Grace Street—Matcha was among the best I’ve ever had!

The contemporary art collection offers a sharp, critical perspective—something surprisingly rare in a city full of Smithsonian institutions. Interesting curatorial decisions and friendly staff.
